CAPS Medical Case Study
CAPS Medical is focused on the development and commercialization of a system which targets solid tumors and aims to selectively and precisely destroy only cancerous cells while sparing healthy tissue and will aid to avoid many of the life-altering side effects of existing cancer therapies. The CAPS NTAP™ system uses Non-thermal Atmospheric Plasma (NTAP) to treat a wide range of solid tumors found in lung, liver, breast, bladder, and other cancers.
Non-thermal Atmospheric Plasma is a stream of low ionized gas at room temperature. Overcoming the limitations imposed by high energy requirements of existing large size plasma devices, CAPS Medical has created a minimally invasive Non-thermal Atmospheric Plasma device able to painlessly treat a wide range of solid tumors without impacting surrounding tissue. The CAPS system makes use of existing keyhole procedures to insert an NTAP-delivering probe via a working channel of standard minimally invasive tools and avoid surgery. Now, for the first time NTAP can selectively target and destroy cancerous solid tumors in internal organs and leave healthy tissue unharmed, a condition necessary for better prognoses.
How Brooks-Keret Became Involved
Over the last two decades I work in the medical device field, I’ve worked with Brooks-Keret on multiple occasions over several companies and was always very satisfied with the quality of service they provide. In 2020, As an early-stage company with a straightforward financing structure, the company’s financial needs were quite basic and I saw a big advantage in working with a one stop shop for all financial services; Brooks-Keret provided dedicated support, taking care of all the financial aspects, along with assistance in building financial models and providing all of CAPS’ financial services, including, CFO services , Controlling, Bookkeeping, Payroll etc.
The availability of a CFO at key points is critical for making the right financial decisions, however it was to early for the company to hire a full time inhouse CFO. This is where Brooks-Keret stepped in. The experience of Nitsan and his team greatly helped in maintaining soundness and financial transparency with stakeholders, and greatly aided in working with the CPA on financial statements.
As a CEO you are so overwhelmed with decisions. In a growing start-up, nearly every decision ends up in the CEO’s desk. Nitsan and the Brooks-Keret team are the kind of people, who work hard to take much burden of my shoulders, so that I could focus on the core business.
